Hi, I'm Emma
I work as a project manager, I'm a parent, and I live overseas in San Francisco, United States.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much bigger.
The early months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and lots of hands-on learning. But gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Soft Meadow Leaf
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in United States.
What This Site Is About (And What It Isn't)
This site is:
- Practical experience from life in United States
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
What Lies Ahead
Our time in United States goes on, as does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in San Francisco or anywhere in United States, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Emma
